Eleven ministers inducted even as portfolio twinge continues

Three-day assembly session begins on Tuesday

ITANAGAR, Nov 2: Eleven ministers were inducted in the Dorjee Khandu led Congress ministry today.

Nabam Tuki, Jarbom Gamlin, Chowna Mein, Kalikho Pul, Tanga Byaling, Tako Dabi and Atum Welly, who were ministers in previous ministry, have been retained. The new faces are former Speaker Setong Sena, former Deputy Speaker Takar Marde, Bosiram Siram and Honchun Ngandam.

Governor Gen (Retd) J J Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan here this afternoon.

C C Singpho and Newlai Tingkhatra, who were ministers in the previous ministry, were left out.

However, the chief minister was tight lipped on portfolio allocations.

Speaking to media persons, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu said the portfolios would be allocated by November 6.

Meanwhile the three-day session of the Legislative Assembly would start Tuesday which would be addressed by the Governor. The session would also see oath taking by the newly elected MLAs.

The election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker is likely either on Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s presumed that both positions will be taken by the Congress.

The name of Wanglin Lowangdong, one of the most vocal MLAs, in otherwise a quite House, is making the round for the post of speaker.

However, the picture would be clear on Tuesday when the contenders file their nominations.

Governor stresses on preservation of mother tongue

Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrated with gaiety

ITANAGAR, Nov 2: Along with faith in our religion, we must protect and use our mother tongue, said Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh, while attending the Guru Nanak Jayanti at Gurudwara Saheb, Naharlagun today.

It will help in preserving our customs and traditions and help in carrying forward our rich culture, he added.

Extending his greetings to all on the 540th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, Gen Singh said hard work and determination to succeed is synonymous with Sikh community while adding that defending ones country, faith, downtrodden and defenseless is imbedded in our religion. True Sikh is the one, who is a good human being and live by the path propounded by the Gurus, he added.

The Governor appreciated the Naharlagun Gurudwara Singh Sabha Prabhandak Committee (GSSPC) and exhorted them to maintain the spirit. It will definitely help in promotion of peace and goodwill amongst the masses, Gen Singh pointed.

Earlier, Naharlagun Gurudwara Singh Sabha Prabhandak Committee (GSSPC), President Sardar Sukvinder Singh Sandhu presented a Saropas (Saffron scarf) to the Governor on the occasion.

A Saropas was also presented to the First lady. Local MLA Techi Kaso, who also attended the celebration, was honoured by the community.

Led by Gyani Prem Singh, the first couple took part in the ‘Kirtan’. They also took part in Ardaas or common prayer and attended the ‘Guru Ka Langar’ or the community feast organized by the committee.

Naharlagun GSSPC, President Sindhu informed that the Sikh community, which has around fifty families in the Capital Complex attended the celebration at Naharlagun Gurudwara Saheb, which was constructed in 1974. Highlighting on the philanthropic effort of the Gurudwara committee, he said, at present there are eight rooms at Yatri Niwas of the Gurudwara, which host people from all occupations, especially those coming to capital city but cannot afford to stay in hotels. Free meals are organized every Sunday.

Naharlagun GSSPC, Secretary Dr. Trilochan Singh informed that the Gurudwara is the only one in the capital complex and a Gurudwara building is under construction. Appealing all for the help in building, Dr. Singh said, Border Road Organization has help the committee a lot in its construction.

Later the Governor and the first lady, who made personal contributions for the building inspected the under construction part of the Gurudwara. Gen Singh insist on making it earthquake proof as the State is under high seismic zone. (PRO)

NE delegation meets Delhi CM

ITANAGAR, Nov 2: MP Lok Sabha Takam Sanjoy along with his colleague from Manipur and Delhi based NE students' Organizations along with CWC Member, AICC Oscar Fernandes, would call on Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit on Nov 3 to apprise her of the threat and insecurity faced by people of NE states in Delhi.

The representatives would ask Chief Minister Dixit to ensure safety, security and congenial atmosphere for the people of North Easterners.

In protest against the Chinese claim

ITANAGAR, Nov 2: Dera Natung Student’s Council has voluntarily decided to abstain from class on Tuesday in solidarity with AAPSU protest march in Delhi against Chinese claim over Arunachal Pradesh.

In a press issued by Nabam Tuna, General Secretary Student’s union Dera Natung Government College, they have urged state and central government to immediately address the issue. They have requested co-operation in their endeavor from students as well as teachers of college. Meanwhile Rajiv Gandhi University Student’s Union too has expressed their support to the AAPSU’s dharna to be organized in capital city Delhi against Chinese claim over Arunachal. The Union has decided to observe 12 hours bandh in the campus and hold dharna supporting AAPSU in their moment.

ITANAGAR, Nov 02: Polo Colony Youth Welfare Association and Polo Colony Development Committee in a joint meeting held today have decided to organize a social service on November 4 to redirect the approach road passing through school campus of government higher secondary school, Polo Colony, Naharlagun.

Society demands action

ITANAGAR, Nov 2: All Sagalee Dopum Brother’s Charitable Society has strongly condemned recent attack on Ngurang Runghi, a night watchman of Donyi Polo Mission School, Sagalee. He was allegedly attacked by group of students from Sagalee. The society has requested authority to strongly punish the culprit and not to release them.

ITANAGAR, Nov 02: East Kameng Middle Zone Students’ Union (EKMZSU) has decided to organize District level essay and extempore speech competition for junior group (Class VI-X) and debate competition for senior group (class X-XII) respectively at Seppa on November 10.

Prize money of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 would be given to the first three winners while there are 15 consolation prizes.

CM appeals

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has appealed to the all the newly elected legislator colleagues not to occupy any official accommodation before allotment by the competent authority.

He said the allotment would be strictly based on seniority following required formalities.

The same procedure will also be followed for the bungalows including meant for the ministers, he said, adding directives have been issued to the officers in this connection.

Rebia demands release of funds

ITANAGAR: Former MLA Nani Ribia in a letter appealed to Chief Engineer, PWD Western Zone to release the payment of NLCPR contractors of Ziro PWD Sub Division immediately.

He claimed that the contractors have completed their work, but due to election, the payment process was temporary kept in abeyance.

Association demands

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Engineer’s Association has condemned Urban Development and Housing Department for delay in conducting Viva-Voce of Assistant Urban Programme Officer (AUPO), Urban Programme Inspector (UPI) etc, the written examination for which was conducted way back in month of December 2008. The association further demanded Viva-Voce be held within the first week of this month.

Allegation baseless, uncalled for

Dear Editor,

This is with reference to the letter written by one Kenbom Bagra in your esteem daily on Oct 29 last. The wild allegation of booth capturing and rigging during Assembly election leveled against me and my workers is totally baseless, misleading and there is no iota of truth. It is an attempt to malign my image of a good leader. Everybody of my constituency know me as a leader of true spirit and whatever I do is meant for the welfare of my people and state.

Everybody has the right to express and exercise fundamental rights in the largest democracy like ours, but defaming an innocent person like me is not a sign of true spirit of the democracy.

The decision of the people of 30 Aalo West constituency should be wholeheartedly respected by all. Let us accept the people’s mandate; as true leaders of the society, we should have guts to face the victory and defeat, joy and sorrow together.

Instead of using media to point out fingers on each other, let us work hand in hand to make our constituency a model constituency.

Aalo West constituency is one of the most literate constituencies of the state. There are so many burning issues related to road communications, electrification, drinking water, education, health and above all unemployment which require immediate attention. Therefore, I request one and all to work together for the speedy development of our area.

There are sufficient potentialities and possibilities and we are having quality human resource, let us share the ideas, views and thoughts for the growth and development of our constituency in particular and the state as a whole.

I extend my gratefulness to the people of my constituency for their trust reposed on me. I had sincerely devoted my time in development activities during my last five years term as an MLA and now I have many plans and programmes to be carried out for my constituency.

Therefore, I would like to request all my people to lend the helping hand and extend their full cooperation so that I come up to the expectations and aspirations of the people of my area. Let us stand together. United we stand; divided we fall.

Dear Editor,

The allegation leveled against MLA Gadam Ete by one Kenbom Bagra is totally baseless and uncalled for. Gadam Ete has been duly elected with clear mandate of the people and there was no any foul play as alleged.

It was free and fair assembly election and regarding controversial postal ballot papers, DEO Amjad Tak had already clarified on it. Therefore, the Govt servants and postal officials who were truly detailed in the electoral process by the DEO should not be blamed by any individual for their individual benefits.

Before coming out to the media with allegation which may present a false picture before the public, it would be better to get clarify the doubt or confusion if any before the DEO office.

We hope for better future and all round development of Aalo West constituency in particular and West Siang in general and appeal to the individual to get the facts right before leveling allegations against our leader, else we will initiate defamation case against such individual for maligning the image of our leader.

First, the centre codes are different in the advertisement and the information brochure. Secondly, some changes were also made in the place to write the age. Thirdly, challan was mentioned as a mode of payment but in the form one has been asked to make a draft.
